New Blog

After I get the pictures of our journey home posted, our blog will be moving. For those that wish to follow along as our Princess grows up, you may do so here: http://everydaylifewithgrace.blogspot.com/

I want to have the other book put into a book form for Gracie, so that she will always have that as a record of events.

Hopefully, I'll have the pics downloaded in the next day or so. I don't get to do much while she is awake.

I hope you all have enjoyed our journey. What an amazing time it has been, What a great and amazing gift that we have received.

Much Love to all of you! May God bless you as he has blessed us.

I got this from Penny...... who i cant wait to chat with...........

I saw this on another adoption blog and thought it was cute... and true!!!!

YOU KNOW YOU ARE AN ADOPTIVE PARENT WHEN:
1. The fact that there are 143 million children without a parent to kiss them goodnight has made you lose sleep.
2. You realize DNA has nothing to do with love and family.
3. You can't watch Adoption Stories on TLC without sobbing.
4. The fact that, if 7% of Christians adopted 1 child there would be no orphans in the world, is convicting to you.
5. You spend free time surfing blogs about families who have experienced the blessing of adoption.
6. It drives you crazy when people ask you about adopted child's "real" parents.
7. You have ever been "pregnant" with your adoptive child longer than it takes an elephant to give birth.(2 years!)
8. You had no idea how you would afford to adopt but stepped out in faith anyway, knowing where God calls you He will provide.
9. You have ever taken an airplane ride half-way around the world with a child you just met.
10. You believe God's heart is for adoption.
11. You realize that welcoming a child into your heart and family is one of the most important legacies you could ever leave on this earth.
12. You know what the word "Dossier" means, and you can actually pronounce it!13. You have welcomed a social worker into the most private parts of your life.
14. You shudder when people say your child is so lucky that you adopted them, knowing full well you are the blessed one to have him or her in your life.

Sorry, still no pics

Dear Hubby still hasn't downloaded the last of the pics yet, hopefully I'll get that done by tonight.

Lets see. We left the airport in our very nice car (you can recline the back seats) the driver was very nice, he looked like my grandfather. Got the airport and checked in, we didnt have alot of time once that was done before we boarded. Enough to ride the escalator SEVERAL times.

Once on the plane, we got comfortable, well as much as one can, I guess. We put Grace in the middle and gave her some books and different toys, she did very well I must say. She however, did not get much rest on this flight. AFter her first visit to the potty, she was upset by the flushing in the toilet. Daddy took her the first time, he just keeps amazing me. Still ok, hours later when she had to go again, we flushed and it was then she decided no more. She wrapped her arms around my legs and it took work for us to get out of that very small room. It is smaller than a phone booth. MUCH. Another two hours and she got quiet, I knew she had to go, but she kept saying no and shaking her head, there was the first melt down. After five minutes, I told paul she had to go and I made her. I carried her all the way to the back, as she was crying very upset. I kept promising I would not flush with her in the room, which was hard because she was clinging on real good, but I did manage to get her out, set her down and go back to that. We still had to force her the rest of the trip. This flight was hot, the first one over, we froze, go figure.

We made it through that flight, we only had a 2 hour layover in Newark, and we had to go through customs. Our gate was changed twice, but we finally found it, our plane was delayed so we did have about 20 minutes to sit before boarding our final flight home. She slept through that flight.

In customs, I was wanting to see what all was in that Brown Envelope. Nope, I handed it to the guy and he was like "what is this" well that made me nervous. I told him it was for adoption and he said for who, we picked her up so he could see her. He said, Oh Congrats, and then had to take the envelope else where, I'm sure for instructions. He came back processed Paul and I. Then he opened it, stamped the page on the outside and said you're good and put the envelope in a pile to the side. I thought we would get that back, but nope.

After landing in Charleston, It Felt So Good to be home. I changed Gracie into her pretty smock dress with our flag on it and we made our way. We had a group waiting on us: my mom, pauls parents, chris, erin and the boys, donna and the kids, my bf bonny and ashlee, her parents mr & mrs craven and stacey nicole, liz, betty ann and willie, the lady from newspaper, and most importantly, my boys, PaulPaul and Brandon and lyndsey!!!! I missed them sooooo much. They had balloons and bears and an easter basket, it was nice to see everyone. Some of them came back to the house, and I'm sure we'll see everyone else over the next week.

Gracie did really well on the drive home in her carseat. She does NOT like the dogs and her feet will not touch the ground if she can see them. She likes her bed, but slept with us of course. Her and her baba are napping at the moment. When they get up, we'll venture out to walmart, there is not much food here.

I'll post pics later, and life with Gracie begins.

Thanks

Just wanted to say, "THANKS" for all the wonderful comments, I was just able to see all them and post them.

They mean so much.!!!!!!!

Love
Peg

Marcy, She sees better than we had hoped. She has trouble with steps and with the floors that have designs, but overall, we are very happy and very blessed. She has an appt with the eye doctor this Friday.

PS, someone asked me about the water, NO the locals do NOT drink it, without boiling it first. I hate to think how many bottled water will be used during the Olympics.

Our Last Post From China

Well we made it safely to Hong Kong yesterday.  Gracie did much better on this flight, lets hope for the best on the ride home.

She loves any type of escalator, going up or just the walking one in the airport.  I think we did that one about 4 times waiting on our flights yesterday.

We arrived in Hong Kong, and found our Limo (not the long stretch, but VERY nice)  If I could drive that, I'd drive a car and give up my SUV (maybe).

We arrived at our hotel, and let me tell you, if youre going to Hong Kong, unless you like REALLY small rooms, this one is not for you.  Were on the 16th floor and it makes me a little dizzy for some reason, maybe just being so closed up.  I took pics, and will post them later.  On the plus side, it has the nicest king size bed that we've had since leaving home.

We out for a walk, hmm, NOT what I was expecting at all.  We did find a McDonalds for dinner and lets just say, you're not getting it your way, you point to the picture and that is what you get.

I saw a very nicely dressed, uhhhh, HeShe I guess, it was clearly a man, but it was all decked out.  He had the clothes, (very nice I might add) mini skirt, nice blouse, high heels, panty hose, his/her hair was very nicely done, and the makeup was just right and a scarf around the neck.  Just not sure what to think about that.

We got up this morning and round around the corner to mickey d's to get her some breakfast, before going on a tour.    We did the Deluxe Hong Kong Island tour, which consisted of the following:

Man Mo Temple
Victoria Peak (by Tram)  it was too foggy to see what I'm sure was a breath taking view
Aberdeen fishing village - rode in an old fishing boat, converted into a tour boat
Repulse Bay - Where the rich and famous live and play in Hong Kong
Stanley Market - more shops of the same thing.  Bought Graci a robe that will fit her in a few years.
and then back to the hotel.

We went the Earls for Dinner, we went to Hard Rock Cafe. We really enjoyed meeting them.  I met Mary online before leaving for China.  They were in Tianjin with us but with a different agency.
Back to our room.  It's 602 pm on Saturday night, we just confirmed our ride to the airport in the
morning. Our flight leaves at 1030 am, we'll try and get a pic of our car in the morning.

There are alot of different nationalities here, I didnt expect that.

Gracie and her daddy are playing at the moment and I need to pack AGAIN.

We are so ready to see everyone, especially my boys.

Love,
Paul Ray, Peggy and Gracie.

Last Post From the White Swan

Well, this is our last post from the White Swan.  What an incredible adventure this has been.  We leave here at 9 this morning.  We're then off to Hong Kong for two nights before we arrive home on Sunday.

A week ago, I was so homesick and ready to go, now its a little sad.  Gracie has 2 nights left in her birth country.  Once we get to Newark, she is offically a US Citizen!!!!  Yeah!

Our journey to her seems so long ago now.  She is doing so well, she is now playing with her Baba at the moment, or it sounds more like giving him instructions.

Yesterday, we ate at Lucy's twice. Just a tip for those coming, you can skip the Homemade American Pie, other than that, not bad at all.

Here are some of little miss's favorite foods: cherry tomatoes, watermelon, eggs, cucumbers and CORN.  She swallows jelly fish with no problems. yuck

Hopefully we'll post from HK.   We are so excited to have this little girl as our daughter.

another day with our girl

Another late start today, we had breakfast around 830 and Gracie ate alot.  We had pizza last night, and she didnt eat alot.  (No she did not go to bed hungry).  They had cherry tomatoes on the breakfast bar, which is Extremely nice!!!!  She ate 6 in no time flat.  After breakfast, we wondered the hotel, still haven't seen it all.  Look in some of the shops, and at all the nice furniture I cant afford.  There are lots of pcs I would love to have shipped home.

Then we had to wait on Grace (our guide) to call and let us know if everything went ok with the Consulate Appointment.  WHICH IT DID!  I didnt realize we did not have to attend that.

I got to talk to my boys today for the first time, we (Paul) actually got the video conference working, so I got to see them and they got to see Miss Thing!!!!!  It was so good to see them, I miss them so much.  I dont know what I'll do when they leave home.

We had to end our call, because we were meeting our guide at 1045, we were 12 minutes late.  She took us to the pearl market today.   It was a floor in the mall, I think there were like 7 floors maybe.  Gracie got a bracelet.  I took a pic for you, and will post after dear hubby downloads them.

Back to the room, we decided to give the pool a try (paul and gracie) I was thinking it was indoors, no, and it was a little to cool for that, we do not need a sick child, she just got over her cold.

Off to walk the streets and get some lunch.  It is really safe here.  We went to Lucy's for lunch.  I ordered her a grilled cheese sandwich with Corn on the cob.  She like the sandwich and devoured the corn in no time flat.  She can clean a cob better than my daddy.  Made the mistake of ordering a pc of homemade apple pie.  Everything else was great.  The sweets in China are not really sweet.

Then off to do a little shopping and price the luggage, we need to buy a suitcase so that we are not overweight on the way back.  We'll go back for that tomorrow.  Got Gracie a tshirt that says, "Made in China".  Too Cute.

There are several dogs here, on the way out, there were two tiny puppies, she would not even go near them.  In one of the shops there was a Shihzu, she was so sweet, but Grace wanted nothing to do with that.

So after lunch and wandering around, we went back and she actually petted the dog, there may be hope after all.

She was sweating so bad and needed some rest so we came back to the room, she just woke up, so she will not be asleep by 8 tonight.

We take our Oath tomorrow and then off to do the city tour.  Packing for Friday morning, our time is winding down and we'll be home soon.  We are not, however, looking forward to the plane ride.  Paul Ray is really itching to get back to work.

I'll post pics tonight, when she goes to sleep.

Much love
Peggy

The Most Beautiful Sight

God has given me alot of gifts in my life, here are two of them.  There are children from 8 months on up here, all beautiful, some healthy with no problems here.  I know without a doubt, God made this child for us.  We love her more each day, and with each day she opens up more and more to us.  I'm sure the road wont always be easy, but it was a road worth traveling.

I want to say thank you to everyone who helped us along the way, and espcially to those waiting at home to meet our little princess.

She is so beautiful with a loud laugh that just melts your heart.  She is gentle and sweet, yet bossy at times.  As I watched her the other day with the other children, she was like a little mother hen, and I couldnt help but remember another little beauty who was always a mother hen to my little boy.

Enough pictures for tonight, it took me almost 2 hours to do all these.

Good night from China,
Love
Peggy

She weights 35 lbs, havent figured the height yet.  That means they did have 4lbs of clothes on her in Jan.  Poor thing.

Going Home Barbie has arrived.

gracies going home barbie arrived today.  All of the adopted children staying at the White Swan get this barbie.  I put it up when it came, she was napping when they delivered it, so she hasnt seen it.  If she gets her hands on it, it will be undressed in about 2 minutes.  For some reason she likes her babies and babies naked.  Strange child.

Just another day with Gracie

Well it was our first full day at the White Swan, seriously, this is a nice place, the only thing I can find is the bed is Really hard, even with the cushion they put on it, and it is HOT, its only April, can you image how hot it is here in August.  There are babies and children everywhere here.  It is so nice to walk the streets and feel welcomed.  There are places for Gracie to play.  We found a park across the street from a elementary school, it has a slide and she is just in heaven.  The little thing is pouring sweat, but she  kept  right on.  Some kids here (local) do not have alot of manners and like at home the parents (some) dont say anything to them.  She played for an hour this afternoon.  There are nice little shops, I love it here.

We were late to breakfast this morning, we were up late.  There is syrup for my french toast, which made me happy.  Gracie however Does Not like it, or maybe its the syrup.  After breakfast we walked around, there were adults exercising, dancing and playing a game kinda like hackie sack.  The older generation seem much more healthier and active than in America.  Our main goal today was to get a traditional dress for the princess to take her red couch pictures.

We took her back to the room for a nap, she is so funny.  Sometimes she goes down really easy and others not.  Today I said nap, she started taking her shoes off, turned the TV off and started calling her BABA.  She  wanted him off the computer.  She is used to going to sleep, laying next to him, talking and playing, now tell me how am I going to get her to nap when he goes back to work.

In the afternoon, we had to meet our Guide, Grace to go get Gracies visa photo and physical done.  We then had to go back to the hotel to fill our paperwork for her visa.  It was then off to take her photo.  We're a group of one, so there are no other kids in the picture, just her.

We walked around the hotel and then took her to change and then back to the park as promised.  We came back to the hotel and ordered Papa Johns Pizza!!!  Oh, a slice of home.  Miss Thing is not to found of it, she ate a pc but does not like the peperoni's.  She does love Cherry Tomato's, they were given to us on the plane last night, so Paul and I saved our packs for her.  They were gone before Breakfast.  She likes to eat within an hour of getting up.

After dinner, we are just hanging out tonight.  The first night, she would not let Paul take her dress off, she is so comfortable now, after eating, she starting undressing, which is a little unusual.  She was content to run around in her undies, I finally told her that is not what a little lady would do.

She is picking up more and more words.  Today, I kept telling her to smile, next thing I know she singing, SMILE< SMILE< SMILE, I was rolling.

Well that is it for todays events.   Tomorrow, we have to wait in our room after breakfast for our guide to call and let us know if everything went ok with applying for our visa's.  After lunch were going to a pearl factory.  (oh and did i tell you my old hubby is back - his comment was, Gracie has a jade bracelet SHE does NOT need pearls - he also did not buy her a doll she picked up in the dress shop, of course she didnt really want it either)

We could have did a harbor cruise tonight, which would have been nice, but we were not sure how she would do with that.

We got to finally meet Heather, her DH and handsome little boy today, she said all the other families were doing well also.

Much Love and we'll be home in 5 days!!
Paul Ray, Gracie and Peggy _ that is how my DH is not signing things!!
